Who can take part

  • You need a pacemaker or a CRT-D (a special defibrillator that helps the heart beat in sync).
  • This must be your first pacemaker or defibrillator implant (not a replacement or upgrade).
  • Your doctor plans to place the wire (lead) in the wall between the heart's lower chambers, called the septum.
  • Your heart's pumping strength (LVEF) must be above 35%.
  • You do not have a congenital heart defect, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, or cardiac amyloidosis.
  • You are not pregnant, and you are able to give informed consent.
