Who can take part

  • Your baby is less than 9 months old, including if they were born early (preterm).
  • Your baby is currently in the hospital with a suspected or confirmed bacterial infection.
  • Your baby needs intravenous (IV) antibiotics for the infection.
  • Your baby does not have severe kidney problems or require dialysis.
  • If your baby has already received antibiotics for a gram-negative bacteria, it must be for less than 24 hours, or the infection hasn't improved after 48 hours.
