Brain scans in women with period-related migraine

Who can take part

  • You must be a woman between 18 and 40 years old.
  • You need to have regular monthly periods (not without a period for the past year).
  • You must have migraine attacks that start around your period (from 2 days before to 2 days after) and no aura (like flashing lights or numbness).
  • You cannot have other headache disorders (except occasional tension headaches), heart disease, diabetes, or uncontrolled mental illness.
  • You must be able to have an MRI scan (no metal in your body, no claustrophobia) and be okay with learning about any unexpected findings.
  • You must not have taken certain medications (except birth control pills), and no coffee, tea, or alcohol for 12 hours before the scan.
