Clot-busting treatment plus blood thinners for severe leg clots

Who can take part

  • You have a blood clot in the iliac or common femoral vein (in your upper thigh or groin).
  • Your clot is recent: found on imaging within the last 14 days, or symptoms started within the last 21 days.
  • You have at least one severe symptom: severe leg pain (score 5 or more on a 0-10 pain scale), leg pain when walking, or your thigh is at least 5% larger than your healthy leg.
  • You are 18 or older, not pregnant, and not under legal guardianship.
  • Your kidneys work well enough (creatinine clearance above 30 mL/min).
