Single blood thinner after shielded stent for brain aneurysm

This study is testing whether using only one blood-thinning medication (single antiplatelet therapy) after placing a special stent (Pipeline Flex with Shield) is safe and effective for treating unruptured brain aneurysms. It is for people who have already been on two blood thinners for a few days before the stent placement.

Who can take part

  • You have an unruptured brain aneurysm (one that hasn't bled) and are getting a Pipeline Flex with Shield stent.
  • The main artery in your brain that the stent will go into is at least 2.5 mm wide, not heavily calcified, and not very curved.
  • You must have taken two blood-thinning medications (dual antiplatelet therapy) for at least 3 days before the stent procedure.
  • Your aneurysm shape is not irregular (not fusiform, blister-like, or dissecting).
  • You have not had a stroke or aneurysm rupture in the last 3 months.
  • You do not have a known allergy to clopidogrel or heparin, and your platelet count is not too low.
