- You are an adult with an arterial line (a small tube in an artery).
- You are expected to stay in the ICU for at least 3 more days with the arterial line.
- You do not have any limits on life-sustaining treatments (like a do-not-resuscitate order).

- You do not have chronic kidney failure, active stomach or intestinal bleeding, or a blood cancer.
