  • You are 18 years old or older.
  • You are being treated in an intensive care unit (ICU).
  • Your doctors think you might have meningitis (swelling of the brain or spinal cord covering).
  • You must have had a neurosurgery procedure or have a drain in your spine to collect fluid.
