Who can take part

  • You have been diagnosed with major depression and your current episode has lasted at least 2 months
  • You are generally healthy with no serious medical conditions
  • You do not have bipolar disorder, psychosis, epilepsy, or serious heart disease
  • No close family member (parent, sibling, child) has had a psychotic disorder like schizophrenia
  • You have not had serious suicidal thoughts with a plan in the last 2 weeks or a suicide attempt in the last 6 months
  • You do not have a current substance use disorder and can stop taking psychiatric medications for the study
