- You are between 18 and 90 years old.
- You need a type of heart device called an S-ICD (a defibrillator placed under the skin) for a heart rhythm problem.
- You have a higher risk for general anesthesia (for example, due to other medical conditions) and your doctor has rated you as ASA II or higher.
- You do not have a bleeding disorder or infection where the numbing medicine would be given.
