Who can take part
- You have been diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis (an autoimmune condition where the immune system attacks the thyroid).
- You have symptoms of an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism) and blood tests show high TSH or low thyroid hormone levels.
- Blood tests show high levels of thyroid antibodies (proteins that attack the thyroid).
- An ultrasound of your thyroid shows a patchy, uneven texture typical of Hashimoto's.
- You do not have other types of thyroiditis (like painful or hard thyroid) or other autoimmune diseases like type 1 diabetes or rheumatoid arthritis.
