Who can take part
- You have been newly diagnosed with ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), a very early form of breast cancer.
- The DCIS area is larger than about 4 cm (1.6 inches) on mammogram, MRI, or ultrasound.
- You are planning to have the DCIS removed with surgery (lumpectomy or mastectomy).
- You are not pregnant, nursing, or less than 8 weeks past pregnancy or nursing.
- You have no metal implants or severe claustrophobia that would prevent an MRI scan.
