Wrist vs. groin approach for liver cancer chemoembolization

Who can take part

  • You have liver cancer at BCLC stage B, or stage A if ablation is not possible.
  • The goal is to shrink the tumor before surgery or transplant.
  • You must not have severe liver cirrhosis symptoms like jaundice, confusion, or hard-to-treat fluid buildup.
  • You must not have a blood clot in the main liver vein or cancer spread outside the liver.
  • Your kidneys must work well (creatinine less than 2 mg/dL or not on dialysis).
  • Your arm arteries must be healthy enough for the radial approach (e.g., no prior surgery, infection, or small artery size).
