Testing inhaled steroids for COPD and air pollution

This trial tests whether inhaled corticosteroids (steroid inhalers) help people with mild-to-moderate COPD breathe better in areas with higher air pollution. You may join if you have mild-to-moderate COPD, are between 40 and 80, and haven't smoked for at least six months.

Who can take part

  • You are between 40 and 80 years old
  • You have been diagnosed with mild-to-moderate COPD (Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease stage 1-2)
  • You have not smoked cigarettes or used any tobacco products in the last six months
  • You have not had a COPD flare-up (sudden worsening of symptoms) in the past year
  • You do not have asthma or asthma-COPD overlap syndrome
  • You are not pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding
