This study looks at how the liver's mitochondria (the energy powerhouses of cells) work in people with fatty liver disease. Participants will have an MRI scan and receive a small amount of fat solution through an IV to see how the liver processes fat.

Who can take part
- You are 18 to 75 years old.
- You have been diagnosed with fatty liver disease (also called metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease, or MASLD).
- You are not allergic to eggs, soy, peanut protein, or the fat solution Intralipid 20% (used during the study).
- You do not have other liver diseases, advanced liver disease, or severe blood fat disorders.
- You do not have metal implants or severe claustrophobia, and can have an MRI scan.
- You are not pregnant or breastfeeding, and do not have a drinking problem or take blood thinners like warfarin.
