- You are 18 years or older.
- You have a complicated UTI or kidney infection (acute pyelonephritis) that requires hospital care and IV antibiotics.
- You have signs of infection in your urine (pus cells).
- You have not already taken antibiotics for this infection for 24 hours or more before starting the study.
- You are not allergic to any beta-lactam antibiotics (like penicillins or cephalosporins).
- You do not have a history of seizures, certain heart problems, or severely reduced kidney function.
