Who can take part

  • You must be 18 or older and have septic shock, meaning an infection causing low blood pressure that needs medication and a high lactate level.
  • Doctors expect you to be in the intensive care unit for more than 3 days.
  • You have been in the intensive care unit for less than 3 days at the time of joining the study.
  • You are not refusing to participate, and no decision has been made to stop life support.
  • You are not considered too close to death (moribund) or under legal guardianship (curator).
