Using MRI instead of CT for follow-up after Ross procedure

Who can take part

  • You had the Ross procedure using the 'loose jacket' technique at Aswan Heart Centre.
  • You survived until you were discharged from the hospital after surgery.
  • You had at least one echocardiogram (heart ultrasound) before surgery that gave complete information about your aortic root.
  • You do not have any reason why a CT scan would be unsafe, such as an allergy to contrast dye, pregnancy, or kidney disease.
  • You do not have any metal implants (like a pacemaker) that are not safe for an MRI scan.
