Who can take part

  • You are scheduled for surgery to fix your aortic or mitral heart valve.
  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You can have an MRI scan (no metal implants or severe claustrophobia).
  • You do not have coronary artery disease (confirmed in the last 6 months).
  • You have good kidney function (GFR above 30 ml/min).
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding.
