Boosting low white blood cells in blood cancer patients

This trial tests a combination of two medicines—thymalfasin and IL-2—to see if they can help raise low white blood cell counts (lymphocytes) in people with blood cancers. If you have low lymphocytes from your cancer or its treatment, this study may offer a way to boost your immune system.

Who can take part

  • You must have a type of blood cancer (like leukemia, lymphoma, or multiple myeloma).
  • Your lymphocyte count or CD4+ T-cell count must be low (a simple blood test will show this).
  • You must be 18 or older and expected to live at least 3 more months.
  • Your kidneys and liver must be working fairly well (checked by blood tests).
  • You should not have an active autoimmune disease, HIV, or active hepatitis.
