Ureteroscopy for new vs. repeat ureter stones

This study looks at how well a procedure called ureteroscopy works for removing stones from the ureter in people who have had stones before compared to those who have never had them. You might be a good fit if your stone is small (15 mm or less) and located in the middle or lower part of the ureter.

Who can take part

  • Your stone is located in the middle or lower part of the ureter (the tube from your kidney to your bladder).
  • Your stone is 15 millimeters or smaller (about the size of a small pea).
  • You do not have a stent (a soft tube) already placed in your ureter.
  • You are not pregnant.
  • You do not have an active urinary tract infection (infection in your bladder or kidneys).
  • You do not have a bleeding problem or take medicine that prevents blood from clotting normally.
