Screening tool for minimal hepatic encephalopathy

Hepatic Pathology (Fibrosis, Cirrhosis, Porto Systemic Shunts)

Part of Brain & nervous system, Digestive system, Hormones & metabolism clinical trials.

This study tests a new cognitive tool to quickly and reliably detect minimal hepatic encephalopathy, a subtle brain change that can occur in people with liver disease. If you have a liver condition like fibrosis or cirrhosis and are already scheduled for a full evaluation (neuropsychological tests, MRI, EEG, and blood ammonia), this tool could help simplify future screening.
