Exercise and brain effects for stress eating in veterans

This study looks at how exercise may affect the brain pathways linked to stress-related eating in veterans who are overweight. If you join, you'll participate in an exercise program and have brain scans to see if it helps reduce stress eating.

Who can take part

  • You are a veteran.
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is 25 or higher (overweight or obese).
  • You are not regularly active (physically inactive).
  • You are able to come to study visits in person in Aurora, Colorado.
  • You are not pregnant, have not had weight-loss surgery, do not have a current eating disorder, and are not taking appetite-altering medications.
  • You can safely have an MRI (no metal in your body, no severe claustrophobia, weight under 500 pounds) and can exercise without heart, lung, nerve, or joint problems.
