Who can take part

  • You are 18 to 40 years old.
  • Your BMI is between 27 and 35 (range of overweight to moderate obesity).
  • You have not had major weight changes (more than 10% of your body weight) in the last 6 months.
  • Your excess weight is not mainly muscle (like bodybuilders).
  • You have no serious health conditions affecting the brain, heart, or metabolism, or chronic inflammatory diseases.
  • You are not taking certain medications for mental health, metabolism, or inflammation in the last 3 months.
  • You do not have metal implants, claustrophobia, or skin issues on your right ear that would prevent MRI scans or ear stimulation.
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding.
