Who can take part

  • You are between 25 and 35 years old.
  • You have type 2 diabetes and have had it for less than 6 months.
  • You are not currently taking any diabetes medication.
  • Your HbA1c (average blood sugar over 2–3 months) is higher than 6%.
  • Your fasting blood sugar is above 200 mg/dL.
  • You do not have kidney disease, eye damage from diabetes, foot ulcers, certain rare genetic conditions, severe liver disease, obesity, heart disease, or pregnancy, and you are not taking nutritional supplements or other medicines.
