Who can take part

  • Your child is between 6 months and 6 years old.
  • Your child is healthy (classified as ASA 1) and having planned (not emergency) surgery.
  • Your child does not have a severe long-term illness, nerve or spine problems, or a bleeding disorder.
  • Your child is not allergic to local anesthetics (numbing medicines).
  • Your child does not have an infection where the injection would be given.
