Who can take part
- You have missing teeth in the back part of your lower jaw and need a bone graft to make the ridge wider.
- You have at least one or two areas in the back lower jaw that can be treated with this bone shell technique.
- You have enough remaining bone height to safely place the graft above the nerve canal.
- You are in good general health (ASA I or II) with no active gum disease, and you are not a heavy smoker (5 or fewer cigarettes per day).
- You are not pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking medications that affect bone healing (like certain osteoporosis drugs or steroids).
- You have not had chemotherapy or radiation to the head or neck area.
