This study tests an antiviral pill called molnupiravir to see if it can prevent severe COVID-19 in people who are at high risk and cannot take Paxlovid. If you have mild to moderate COVID-19 symptoms and certain health risks, you may be able to join.

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older
  • You tested positive for COVID-19 and have had symptoms for no more than 4 days
  • You have at least two COVID-19 symptoms (like cough, fever, body aches, or headache)
  • You are at high risk for severe COVID-19 due to age (75+), a weak immune system, a disability, or having three or more health conditions (like diabetes, obesity, or lung disease)
  • You cannot or will not take the COVID-19 pill Paxlovid (nirmatrelvir/ritonavir) for medical reasons, side effects, or because it's not available
  • You are not currently hospitalized, don't need immediate hospital care, and do not have severe COVID-19 symptoms
