Who can take part
- You are 18 years or older
- At least 20% of your body surface is burned
- You are scheduled for surgery to remove at least 20% of the burned area (including the donor site for skin grafts)
- You are not pregnant
- Your burns are not caused by electricity or chemicals
- You do not have serious heart, kidney, or liver disease, and are not on long-term steroids or immune-suppressing medications
