Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 80 years old.
  • You have advanced esophageal cancer that could not be removed by surgery, and you have already finished a strong treatment plan (chemotherapy with radiation, or radiation alone).
  • After your last treatment, a scan shows no signs of the cancer coming back or spreading.
  • You can provide a fresh sample of your tumor tissue.
  • You have not had a fistula (an abnormal connection) caused by the tumor, and you are not at high risk for bleeding or a hole in the esophagus.
  • You are generally in good health (able to do daily activities without help) and your major organs work well.
