Who can take part

  • You have been diagnosed with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.
  • Your cancer has spread to 4 or fewer distant areas, with no more than 3 in any one organ, and each spot is 5 cm or smaller.
  • You are in fairly good health, able to care for yourself (ECOG score 0-1).
  • You have not had prior immunotherapy with PD-1 inhibitors, unless it was stopped more than 3 months ago for reasons other than side effects or worsening disease.
  • Your blood counts and organ function tests are within a certain safe range.
  • You do not have an active infection, autoimmune disease, or need steroids at the time of starting treatment.
