- You are between 18 and 65 years old
- You are scheduled to have your first bariatric surgery (any type)
- You do not smoke or use cannabis
- You are not pregnant or breastfeeding
- You do not use Ozempic or similar medicines, or antipsychotic medications
- You do not have kidney disease, uncontrolled high blood pressure or thyroid issues, or other metabolic diseases besides diabetes
