Who can take part
- You are at least 18 years old and speak English.
- You need a specific ear surgery (canal wall down mastoidectomy) for any reason such as infection, a growth in the ear, or a tumor.
- You may have had a different ear surgery before, but now need this one.
- You do not have any of the following: weak immune system, autoimmune disease, diabetes, heart disease, or blood vessel disease.
- You have not had radiation treatment to the head or neck.
- You do not use tobacco (smoking, chewing, etc.) right now.
- You are not allergic to the study gel (RADA16) or its ingredients.
- You are not pregnant, in prison, or unable to make your own medical decisions.
