Who can take part

  • Your baby must weigh 1000 grams (about 2 pounds 3 ounces) or less at birth.
  • There should be no known birth defects that affect the stomach or intestines.
  • The baby's condition must not be so severe that death seems likely soon.
  • No major blockages in the stomach or intestines (like a twist or hole).
  • The baby's medical team must agree to this study.
