Who can take part
- You are 55 years or older.
- You are scheduled for a first-time total knee replacement on the leg being studied.
- You have normal bone density or mild bone thinning (osteopenia) that does not meet treatment guidelines for osteoporosis.
- You have not taken any osteoporosis medications before.
- You are not currently taking steroids or other bone-affecting drugs.
- You do not have rheumatoid arthritis.
