- Your physical health status (ASA) is rated I, II, or III
- Your body mass index (BMI) is between 18 and 40
- You are having laparoscopic abdominal surgery
- You do not have a bleeding disorder
- You do not have an infection where the numbing injection will be given
- You do not have advanced liver or kidney failure
- Your surgery is planned, not an emergency
