Who can take part

  • You need a porta Cath (a port for medications or fluids).
  • Your platelet count and blood clotting must be normal.
  • The vein in your armpit must not have a blood clot.
  • No infection or recent injury near the area where the port would go.
  • You do not have a pacemaker or defibrillator.
  • You have not had a port or catheter placed in your subclavian vein (chest area) before.
