Who can take part
- You must have a type of esophageal cancer called squamous cell carcinoma that is locally advanced but has not spread to distant organs.
- Your tumor must be 10 cm or less in length and 5 cm or less in width, and must not extend more than 2 cm into the stomach.
- You must be 18 to 75 years old, and your overall health (performance status) must be good (ECOG 0 or 1).
- You must not have had prior chemotherapy, immunotherapy, or radiation for this cancer.
- You must not have certain other medical conditions like active infections, heart disease, autoimmune disease, or a history of organ transplant.
- You must have adequate kidney, liver, and blood function based on lab tests, and you cannot be pregnant or breastfeeding.
