Who can take part
- You are between 18 and 80 years old
- You have had a blunt (not sharp or penetrating) injury to your chest
- Your doctor suspects you may have a costochondral joint separation (where the rib cartilage separates from the breastbone)
- You agree to have both an ultrasound and a CT scan
- You are not pregnant and can safely undergo a CT scan
- You do not have air trapped under your skin (subcutaneous emphysema) that would block the ultrasound
- You are not allergic to the gel used in ultrasound
- Your body mass index (BMI) is 30 or less
