Who can take part
- Your body mass index (BMI) must be 30 or higher (27.5 for Chinese or South Asian people) and no more than 40. If your BMI is 40 or higher, you must be at high risk for surgery or not want surgery.
- You have tried standard weight loss methods like diet, exercise, behavior change, or medication without enough success.
- You have not had any previous weight loss surgery, stomach surgery, or surgery on your esophagus.
- You do not smoke, and you have not used opioid pain medication in the past year.
