- Your body mass index (BMI) is 27 or higher
- You have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes
- Your diabetes severity score (IMS) is between 25 and 115
- Your HbA1c is below 11% if you take oral diabetes drugs, or below 8% if you use insulin
- You have not had previous stomach or intestinal procedures like this one
- You do not have active stomach ulcers, bleeding disorders, or serious medical conditions
