Who can take part

  • Your child is having a planned surgery on the belly or below the belly button that should take 90 minutes or less.
  • Your child is healthy or has only mild health problems (ASA I or II).
  • Your child does not have major heart disease, a bleeding disorder, or a spine problem.
  • Your child is not allergic to bupivacaine (a common numbing medicine).
  • Your child does not have a skin infection at the lower back or is not severely overweight.
