Who can take part

  • You are 65 years old or older.
  • You are scheduled for a planned (not emergency) leg surgery under spinal anesthesia.
  • You are generally healthy or have mild to moderate health conditions (classified as ASA I-III).
  • You do not have any condition that makes spinal anesthesia unsafe (like infection at the injection site, bleeding problems, or severe spine issues).
  • You are not allergic to bupivacaine.
  • You do not have severe heart valve disease, serious irregular heartbeat, uncontrolled high blood pressure, or severe liver or kidney problems.
