Who can take part

  • Your body mass index (BMI) must be over 35 before any weight-loss surgery.
  • You must be able to have an MRI scan (no metal implants, pacemaker, or severe claustrophobia).
  • You must not have had a neurological disorder (like epilepsy, stroke, or Parkinson's).
  • You must not have a serious psychiatric condition (like schizophrenia or bipolar disorder).
  • You must be willing to give a small blood sample and be comfortable with an MRI.
