This trial tests a gel called TV5M01 to see if it can help reduce mouth sores caused by radiation therapy for head and neck cancer. It is for adults who are about to start radiation and already have early signs of mucositis.

Who can take part
- You are 18 to 59 years old
- You have advanced head and neck cancer (stage III or IV) and are scheduled for radiation
- You can swallow solids and liquids before starting radiation
- You have mild or worse mouth sores (grade 1 or higher) from cancer treatment
- You are generally in good health (ECOG performance status 0 or 1) and expected to live 6 months or more
- Your kidney and liver function are adequate based on blood tests
