Inhaled insulin vs injected insulin for exercise blood sugar drops in type 1 diabetes

Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 65 years old.
  • You have type 1 diabetes and use a Tandem t:slim X2 or Tandem Mobi pump with Control-IQ for at least 3 months.
  • You use insulin aspart or insulin lispro in your pump.
  • Your total daily insulin dose is between 20 and 80 units.
  • You usually need 12 units or less of insulin for a 50-gram carbohydrate lunch.
  • You exercise at least 3 times a week for 30 minutes or more (moderate or vigorous intensity).
  • You do not smoke, vape, or use marijuana within the last 3 months.
  • You do not have asthma, COPD, or other serious lung disease.
  • You have not had severe hypoglycemia or diabetic ketoacidosis in the last 3 months.
