Who can take part

  • You or your parent must sign a form saying you agree to join.
  • You must be between birth and 21 years old.
  • You must already have a central venous catheter (a special IV tube in a large vein) or be about to have a heart catheterization.
  • You must weigh more than 2.5 kilograms (about 5.5 pounds).
  • You cannot have active bleeding or be too sick (as decided by your doctor).
