Who can take part
- Your child is admitted to the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) or cardiac intensive care unit (PCICU)
- You (parent or guardian) can provide written permission for your child to participate
- Your child has a central venous catheter—a thin monitoring tube placed in a large vein near the heart (not a PICC line, which is a different type of catheter in the arm)
- Your child does not have Glenn or Fontan heart surgery (special surgical procedures for certain heart conditions)
- Your child does not have heterotaxy syndrome (a rare condition where internal organs are positioned differently than usual)
