Who can take part
- You are between 18 and 69 years old.
- You have a body mass index (BMI) of 25 or higher.
- Your liver has at least 10% fat, as measured by a special MRI scan.
- If you are in the liver biopsy group, you must have certain liver enzyme levels and a liver stiffness measurement between 8 and 12 kPa on a FibroScan.
- You cannot have severe liver damage, such as cirrhosis or very high liver enzymes, or take blood thinners (if in the biopsy group).
