Who can take part
- Have a confirmed diagnosis of locally advanced squamous cell carcinoma of the larynx or hypopharynx
- Have not received any previous treatment for this cancer
- Be age 18 or older
- Be in good enough physical condition to have daily activities mostly unaffected (ECOG score 0-1)
- Have tumors that can be measured on scans
- Have normal organ function (kidneys, liver, bone marrow, etc.)
- Agree to use effective birth control during the study and for 180 days after the last dose
- Must not have active autoimmune disease, HIV, or other serious medical conditions listed
