Inhaled cisplatin for stage IV lung cancer

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older and have stage IV non-small cell lung cancer, confirmed by a biopsy.
  • You have not yet received any treatment for stage IV lung cancer (previous chemo more than 6 months ago for earlier-stage cancer is okay).
  • Your cancer can be measured on scans (RECIST 1.1) and your doctor plans to treat it with pembrolizumab alone or with carboplatin/pemetrexed or paclitaxel.
  • You are in good enough health to have a performance status of 0 or 1 (able to be up and about, doing light activities).
  • Your lungs work well enough: oxygen level at rest is at least 90%, and breathing tests (FEV1 and DLCO) are at least 50% of what is expected for your age and height.
  • You can use a simple handheld inhaler device (like a capsule-based inhaler).
